Jacqui Smith, quite frankly my dear, that’s not good enough

Jacqui Smith

It may have worked with the media, once again, but a cover-up is a cover-up (or should it be now called - a concealer?)

The lame excuse

“There was no fiasco, there was no blunder, there was strengthened and improved action.”

is not an excuse at all, it is in fact an indignation of how by copy spin the ineptitude of our elected MPs is washed away and made okay and in turn, to be forgotten in tomorrow’s press.

It is now revealed that up to 10,000 foreign nationals could be working illegally in the security industry, whether that is true or not, God knows, because quite frankly, we don’t know where they are.

Point One. Mrs Jacqui Smith, as an elected candidate for this parliament, anything that arises within your duties, that require the attention of all government bodies, in order to function efficiently in their respective offices, should be reported, firstly to your senior minister and then to the House. You did neither.

Point Two. We have been at the height of security around the UK since 7/7, and even now Gordon Brown reveals the ‘Fortress Britain’ plan with more than 250 busy railway stations, airports and seaports as well as 100 ‘’sensitive” installations like power stations and electricity substations will be given extra security.

Yet you knew the SIA became aware of the problem in April when it found that 44 foreign nationals, including 12 guarding Metropolitan Police sites, were working illegally. One was looking after a garage where the Prime Minister’s car was repaired. You failed to feel that this could be a case of national security and report this.

Point Three. We, the taxpayer know. that the position you have excepted is an intolerable one, all we ask is that you fulfill your duties to the best of your abilities. We do not employ you as a PR agent or a clairvoyant who can foresee what the public should and should not be privileged to.

Point Four. You, along with your current spin doctors have a) misled the House, b) misled the British public and c) convinced the media that the saga is history. You and your inept Met Chief, Sir Ian Blair, live once again to fight another day.

See, the spins are winning already, from the Times, Only cover-up was of the most famous cleavage in Westminster, well having  a cleavage is another lame excuse!
