David Blunkett and his big yellow buses
It was a surprise to see David Blunkett, MP for Sheffield Brightside, on Sky News yesterday.
The strange part to begin with was the caption below his face, ‘Former Home Secretary’
It could be argued that the caption could also have read ‘Former Work & Pensions Secretary’, but I believe that ‘Former’ should always be replaced by ‘Disgraced Former’
It seems that now his memoirs have been published he has been chosen, by First Group, to Chair the UK Commission on implimenting the US Yellow Bus scheme to Britain.
First Group, Britain’s biggest bus and train operator, has formed close links with another senior Labour figure. It employs Alastair Campbell, Tony Blair’s former spokesman, to advise on “strategic communications”. (spin basically then?)
Mr Blunkett seems to be bullet proof when it comes to scruples and how the voters in his ward allow him to continue in any post that commands respect and integrity is beyond belief.
He was made Home Secretary, then broke the rules. Mr Blunkett quit in December 2004 over allegations that a visa application for the nanny of his lover Kimberly Quinn had been fast-tracked.
He was rehabilitated back into office five months later, in May 2005, as work and pensions secretary, only to be forced out after he failed to tell an advisory body that he had taken up a directorship with DNA Bioscience, a firm in which he held shares.
First Group must be hoping that choosing Mr Blunkett will give some backbone to their scheme, when really it is asking for trouble. First Group entered the US arena in 1999, forming First Group America and has since aquired Laidlaw and Greyhound.
Seems that David knows someone with plenty of US Yellow Buses just parked waiting to hit UK streets. (they do look environment friendly don’t they?)
One question, how much is Dodgy Dave being paid to bamboozle the British Taxpayer with this scheme?

He has blatantly broke rules when given any post with serving the taxpayer. He is out for his own financial gain with no respect for the people who trusted him with their vote
